![]() ![]() Joker - you know, him from Smash Bros.! - slowly amasses a group of fellow rebellious students and misfits who come to call themselves the Phantom Thieves, each of which can command powerful monsters called Personas to battle bizarre and shadowy enemies in the Metaverse. For example, the first Palace is a castle ruled by Kamoshida, a physically and sexually abusive volleyball coach who sees Shujin Academy and its students as things to use as he pleases.Ĭaptured on Nintendo Switch (Handheld/Undocked) Within the Metaverse are Palaces - bizarre dungeons based upon the twisted way that certain people in power view real locations and people. Not long after you arrive at Shujin, you gain the ability to access “The Metaverse”, an alternate plane of existence born out of people’s cognition. The man is accidentally injured and sues you for damages, which results in you being given a criminal conviction, expelled from school, and sent into the city to attend Shujin Academy. While walking home from school one day, you witness a woman being assaulted by a man and intervene. Persona 5 Royal has a plot that feels like a cross between Inception and a superhero story, placing you in the role of Joker, a quiet high school student who has become a victim of circumstance. If you’re an RPG fan and somehow haven’t yet gotten around to playing this game, you should pick it up as soon as possible. ![]() And though this belated port hasn’t brought with it any major new upgrades or changes, we’re pleased to report that Persona 5 Royal is every bit as magnificent and memorable an experience as it’s always been. After literally years of pretending like it wasn’t sure there would be an audience, Atlus has brought Persona 5 to the Switch. The sixth numbered installment in the Shin Megami Tensei spinoff series is also in development, but seeing how Atlus has yet to share any concrete details on Persona 6, it's unlikely that the game will be launching prior to 2024, at the earliest.Well, all you lovely people, it finally happened. Namely, Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden remasters are both scheduled to debut on PC and current-generation consoles on January 19, 2023. The news of Persona 5 Royal Remastered's strong launch month performance comes just as Atlus is gearing up to rerelease the older two 3D Persona games. ![]() That's not a small player group, either, seeing how Persona 5 Royal Remastered immediately debuted in the top 10 most-played titles on Game Pass and is still listed among its top 15 most-popular games as of December 1, over five weeks into its release. The newly announced sales milestone is even more impressive in light of the fact that Persona 5 Royal Remastered hit Game Pass on day one, and anyone who played it using Microsoft's Netflix-like gaming service isn't counted in its first-month customer pool. This means that Persona 5 Royal Remastered at the very least managed to reach similar heights, thus accounting for half of the remaster's current sales, at a minimum. Both of those records were set within weeks of the games' releases, and P4G hit 500,000 sales on Valve's platform in its first month. Furthermore, the title's concurrent player peak on Steam (35,474) is similar to that of the Persona 4 Golden PC port (29,984). This is because the game already spent half a decade as a Sony exclusive and the Persona 5 Royal PS5 upgrade came at full price. While Atlus did not provide a breakdown of Persona 5 Royal Remastered sales by platform, it's to be presumed that this 1 million sales milestone was largely driven by PC and Switch purchases.
